Grimacing Cutler…Barr none

Looking into the Bears’ proverbial mirror with this weeks match-up, I saw a familiar sight, something I saw not too long ago…

If the Chicago Bears were a jigsaw puzzle, there would be few pieces that have been put together to show the finished product…in other words, the Bears are now what the Vikings were in the past-before the Zimmer era. The Bears are a team that is average at best…a middle of the road team…a team that is looking for a new identity…sound familiar? Our Vikings were there not too long ago, and thanks to strong drafts and great coaching, the Vikings have turned the corner-into contention.

Although the Vikings haven’t beaten the Bears in Chicago in a long, long time, (even then Viking Brett Favre couldn’t do it) this is a different Viking team: they are not push-overs-they do the pushing, they used to get punished-now they do the punishing.

Given where both team are currently at heading into Sunday’s match-up, the once “Monsters of the Midway” are a distant memory and the Purple People Eaters are hungry again, and on the attack!

Our defense will gobble up the Bears’ O-line and swarm Cutler in a sea of purple rage. Our offense will strike swiftly and efficiently, leaving no doubt that the Vikings are a force to be reckoned with for a long, long time.

  1. Wallace is horrible! He’s earning the big bucks because he’s supposed to be able to catch the ball when he beats the CB deep!

Is he ever going to figure it out, or are we stuck with just a single WR who can make plays for the season?

    • Probably, but he didn’t need to. That was clearly a penalty. You can’t hit the QB after he started his slide, and the defender didn’t just hit him, he head butted him.

Too bad Turner’s scheme can’t take advantage of the gifts the defense is handing him.

  2. every game seems like a tale of two halves for this defense. they look shaky in the 1st, then play they ass off in the 2nd. or they play good in the 1st, then play shitty in the 2nd. can we get a complete dominant game or two from these guys ??

  3. Close battle on the prediction contest today, but it looks like Cariboo and iaVike tie for the point. Both were only off by 2!

      • Sorry Irish. I must have missed that. Let’s see…well you did come in at a very close 9th place, but Cariboo and iaVike still tie for the point.

  4. Why the Teddy bashing? Sure it wasn’t his best outing, but when he needed to come up big in the last two drives, he did.
The Vikes lost games like this last year, now they are finding ways to win the dog-fights.
They just did something they haven’t done since 2007-win at Soldier field. Enjoy the win fellow VFB’ers…we’re 5-2!
    SKOL Walsh, and Skol Vikings!

  5. Teddy Overthrow had issues with throwing high last season. He hasn’t really forced receivers to climb the ladder this year, but he’s missed several sure TDs so far. Irish is right – he almost overthrew Diggs in the Lions game.

He’s very poised for a 22 year old getting chased by Brahma bulls who want to smear him all over the ground………until he sees a WR streaking wide open toward the end zone. Hope he gets used to it soon, I like watching TDs.

  6. Some numbers:

    27/41 269 1 0
    14/22 77 0 0

    Top line = TB at Denver – complete/attemps – yards – td’s – Int’s
Bottom Line = AR at Denver
So, if you can use only 2 games to compare performance, both on the road at Denver, then I would say that TB>AR.

    • You know better than that Cariboo. No disrespect to Teddy, but he’s definitely not even close to as good as Rodgers. He’s got a lot of learning to do, but he knows it and he’s going to put forth the effort to get better because he knows it.

If you want to make comparisons between the two, I think the following is much more apt. While Teddy’s leading his team to come-from-behind wins and a winning record, at the same time in his career Rodgers still had another season-and-a-half of bench warming in his future. Then, after his rear had worn out the bench, Rodgers stepped on the field and led his team to a paltry 6-10 record.

      • I did say “If”.
It is very difficult for us as fans to assess our teams and players. Vikes at Broncos and Packers at Broncos gives us a chance to compare performances against the same opponent under similar circumstances in the same year, although the Packers were coming off their bye week.
Obviously, you are correct. It is way too early to compare the two QB’s. I was trying to provide a counterpoint to Ozzinator’s equation.

        • I mean we could do the exact same comparison with Aaron Rodgers vs CHI and it’s completely a different story. No way Teddy is anywhere near as bad as ponder that’s ridiculous.

  7. Did anybody else watch the Packers-Broncos game last night? That was very fun to watch! Hopefully Zimmer takes a good long look at the tape from that game in a few weeks and takes some pointers on how to make Aaron do his deer in the headlights impression for 60 minutes.

Keep it purple...
