Ten Days to Day 1 of the Draft

Just ten more days remain of the painfully irritating agony waiting to see what rookies are going to be added to the team. Ten more days for potential rookies’ stock to rise and fall. Ten more days for NFL GMs to make statements about certain players. Ten days for fans to ascertain whether those statements are genuine or straight out lies used as “smokescreens” to fool other clubs into doing something foolish. Ten days for “experts” to provide us with yet more mock drafts. Ten days for these same experts to say “I remember the Vikings did something stupid once three years ago, so I’m going to just assume they’re always going to be stupid.”

ENOUGH OF IT ALREADY! I wish I could find some magic drug that made me not even notice the time as I wait for these final ten days to pass…

    • Mosley is a top 10 talent, but injury concerns are enough to push him back. Even with the injury concerns, I doubt he gets out of the first round. There’s some good linebackers in the draft, but after the first few players the skillset drops off significantly – especially for middle linebackers. Because of that, Mosley’s value is still going to be pretty high even with the injuries.

You’re right, I wouldn’t take Mosley at pick 8. If we wanted him, we should be able to trade down around 15-20 and still get him at a decent value.

“Bucky” must not be paying too much attention to his own mock draft. He already gave Mack to the Raiders…maybe he was thinking Barr? Regardless, we should be taking Bortles here. Yes, he’s been compared to Gabbert, but our OC is going to make a huge difference in how THIS QB is developed. With other QB needy teams waiting until the 2nd round to get their guy, there’s not going to be anyone left worth drafting when our pick comes around, so we have to pull the trigger in the first round if our guy is available.

  1. Irish – I got the OK on the Bears game!!!!!! (yeah, I guess I’m whipped a little)

But……..thinking about the Packers game. How much would THAT cost? Anyone got an idea? Seat prices low to hi?

  2. Guys I will be at these games so let’s try and get the uglies together.
TCF Bank Gophers vs Iowa Nov 8
TCF Bank Gophers vs Ohio State Nov 14
    Soldier Field vs Bears NOV16
    TCF Bank vs Packers NOV23
TCF Bank vs Panthers Nov 30
& possibly if I get the extra week I will be at TCF Bank for the Redskins game on Nov 2
Add in a handful of Minnesota Wild/Timberwolves games and I’m all set.

  3. Whoa whoa whoa, there is some type of misconception on here about whether or not I have said MEziel can play or not, so I’m going to set the record straight:

MEziel is selfish on and off the field. This is shown by him ignoring his open receivers so he can make flashy plays (watch the tape). He also relies heavily on throwing the ball up for grabs and being rescued by his 6’5 WR Mike Evans (a likely Top 10-15 pick).

  4. Ben Leber interviewed by Wobby was interesting and sold me on CB Justin Gilbert. Described him as nasty, and made me think Joey Browner. Anyone remember the time Browner some how ended up with legs of an enemy player and spun him throwing him out of the endzone? Its a foggy memory but still a memory.

    • Zimmer is thinking one of two things…
      1. Please don’t break the bones in my hand
      2. You’re my density

      Q. If a water truck full of water and another water truck full of vinegar are driving full speed towards each other, what sound do they make when they hit?

  5. Bad news Irish – just checked ticket prices for the Bears game – cheapest seats in the house start at $150, and those are under the drain pipes for the urinals.

That was on StubHub – I’ll try looking at other ticket sites.

Carolina game has tickets available from $60 on up, can get decent seats for under $100.

  6. Zimmer’s version of the 12 Days of Christmas:

In the first round of the draft, Rick Spielman gave to me…..
….a future Hall of Fame QB!!!
In the second round of the draft, Rick Spielman gave to me…..
…..two shutdown corners, and a future HOF QB.
In the third round of the draft, Rick Spielman gave to me….
…..three hulking linemen, 2 shutdown corners, and a future HOF QB.
In the fourth round of the draft, Rick Spielman gave to me….
…..four punishing linebackers, 3 hulking linemen, 2 shutdown corners, and a future HOF QB.
In the fifth round of the draft, Rick Spielman gave to me…..
…..fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive fuuuuuutuuuuuuure frycooks……….4 punishing linebackers, 3 hulking linemen, 2 shutdown corners, and a future HOF QB!!!!

  7. What would you think of the Vikings trading back with the Cowboys for their 2nd?
Allowing them to get MEziel like it is rumored they want and setting the Vikings up to pick the seemingly falling Teddy Bridgewater.

Then in the 2nd get a LB Shaizer or CB Verrett and with the newly acquired 2nd get an OLinemen OT/G Joel Bitonio or OT/G Dakota Dozier.
In the 3rd get MLB Jordan Tripp and S/CB Brock Vereen.

  8. Vikings go 2-14 after Cassel is injured and Ponder takes the helm. At the end of the season, everyone is fired and Brian Billick is brought in as GM, and Childress returns triumphantly as head coach. AD is traded to New England for a one year contract with Tom Brady. Sound crazy? After all the years watching this team, I think it sounds realistic.
