Vikings Blow Out the Sunburned Ones, 34-27

The Vikings scored their first win of the season in the Metrodome. It only took just over half a season to do it too! Unfortunately, it came against the closest thing to an easy opponent that the team is going to see for the remainder of the year. Things only get tougher from here on out, which may not be all bad.

As a fan who always tries to find a silver lining, today’s win was fun to watch, but probably didn’t do anything to help the team. Getting a second win on the season all but gauranteed the Vikings won’t be in the market for the first overall pick in the draft, but they’re still lined up for a top-5 selection. With the final seven opponents all in a strong run for the playoffs (with a possible exception of the Super Bowl champs), our standings shouldn’t get any worse from here. So we can all enjoy finally getting to see our team win for possibly the last time all season, and start trying to guess what we might do with our high draft picks to make our 2014 improvement even better than the Chiefs’ improvement this year.

  1. I think we can beat the Seahawks this week they don’t run a very flashy offense it might be just what our defense needs. However, ponder will be playing so there’s that….

  2. I hear Wobschall would like to be a Cowboy’s reporter. He would love it on ‘the lone prairie’ surrounded by his 4-legged worshippers. So I propose a trade….

Wobschall, Ponder, Frazier, Musgrave, Williams, Loadholt and Johnson to Dallas for a big ‘ol pot of Texas chili and their ugliest cheerleader.

“O bury Wobschall on the lone prairie
Where coyotes howl and the wind blows free
In a narrow grave just six by three—
O bury Wobschall on the lone prairie”.

  3. Apparently I was screaming at the TV and almost got kicked out. Something about how we were THIS close to getting rid of Ponder and getting a franchise QB, and he has to start playing like THAT. THEN he goes and pops his shoulder out. At least this one was a legit injury.

  4. So is it possible that Carlson is not the piece of garbage we all thought he was? It’ll take more than one game to tell, but after last night it looks like another case of Spielman putting the talent on the roster, and the coaches not knowing what to do with it…

    • My thoughts exactly. We have a LOT of talent on offense that is playing mediocre because of a) poor play calling, and b) Ponder’s inadequacy.

Put Brady/Brees/Manning in with our WRs RBs and TEs, and we wouldn’t need a defense.

  5. The bulling BS with Jonathan Martin is pathetic. He has collected all this stuff from his rookie year but didn’t come out with it till he was benched and made back up to the back up RT. Fearing for his job Martin runs home to his lawyer mommy and daddy and they say we know a way to get you money and so the bully stuff starts. The US is full of greedy bastards that will always try to screw another person over just for a nickle.

  6. The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of Wobschall in Dallas.
The first time that he attempted ‘The Sprinkler’ in one of those redneck honky-tonk saloons, he would see more lead than a Chinese paint factory.

  7. Here’ s a poem I wrote for the guy at the mall today wearing a “big miracle” vikes jersey. It’s called “F^%# YOU BIG MIRACLE!”

Im coming out my corner and I ain’t relenting!
The way you make me rage is gonna be ending!
The steam room of my fury yea it’s gonna be steaming!
(now it goes into a prose)
Hey Big Miracle, remember when you turned my smile into seething anger?
Well I wonder if your haunting laugh would still resonate if your day ended in murder?
(now it returns to the original meter)
    F^%# YOU BIG MIRACLE! IM F$#@ING CRAAAAAAAAZZZZZZZZZYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

    • If they win next week, it will be like a championship– hope they keep a level head. I recall when we beat Seattle years ago at their place– we had a bad team and they became so cocky afterward– we can beat anyone– and then they lost the next game and a bunch more.

  8. Speaking of Simpson, I am getting tired of watching him catch the ball and acting like it was the greatest first down in history. For a team with two wins I would think the coaches would tell the players to stop acting like they just won the championship.

Keep it purple...
