Post Game talk-Vikings go to 0-3

BudGrant

Bud Grant must be shaking his head…

There are no words…only utter shock in todays outcome. These are my observations:

We were out-played at the QB position
We were out-played at Special Teams
We were out-played at Defense
We were out-played at Offense
We were out-coached at EVERY facet of the game.

The Vikings lost to the Browns-at home-with everything in our favor to make a run and get right back into the mix, the Vikes fell flat on their collective asses.

When the team in purple needed to make a play, we couldn’t. Not on offense, not on defense, not in our coaching staff.

This is a day that will be marked as the beginning of the end of the current Viking Regime.

  1. If we keep losing, Frasier, Ponder, and Williams are gonna end up fry cooks at Musgraves restaurant. And it is not a good restaurant. The tossed salad is never tossed very far, nothing is seasoned, and they keep punting your dinner.

  2. Ponder had a chance to seal the game with a third down completion and threw WAY wide to Jennings on the sideline route-instead of trying for the completion, he was more concerned about a possible pick so he basically throws the ball out of bounds and tells the defense to save the game-bad idea on both parts.

And what a time for Locke to have his worst punt of the day.

We are only in the third week in football, and our season is probably over-

PREDICTION-If we lose against the Steelers in London, Frazier will be out. The problem with that is Singletary is the assistant HC.

    Can anyone say 2-14?

  3. This is gonna be a long season for Viking fans…loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong.

  4. Yeah, if they were to bench Ponder and put in MBT I wouldnt be upset. If they were to put in Cassel…. watch the carnage begin. Ponder made some plays with his feet, but Cassel wouldnt have a chance with this swiss cheese pass protection.

    • Ponder made plays with his feet-but not with his hands. I am dissapointed in Ponder, but am more dissapointed in the entire coaching staff.

Frazier looked completely lost on the sidelines. He gets out coached every game, Musgrave and Williams are nothing but castaways.

We turned over the roster the past two years, now is the time to turn over the coaching staff. Start doing your research Speilman.

  5. Disappointed in the whole team and staff. I didnt think there was a chance in hell that we’d start 0-3, but we deserved to lose every game so far. Lets hope we get things turned aroun across the pond, or there will be calls for Fraziers job.

  6. I think Musgrave knows he IS on the way out and Frazier realizes his OC has no clue– that exchange after the second Ponder rushing TD certainly told that — at least by body language. Musgrave looked like a little kid trying so hard to explain to a parent who did not want to hear it. At least it looked that way to me.

  7. I think the first change should be the QB position. Ponder missed wide open receivers, floated balloons when he should have put zip on it, stared down ONE target and flushed if he wasn’t open, was widely inaccurate making receivers dodge duck dive dip and dodge to try and catch the ball, and threw 2-yd dunks in situations where we NEEDED chunks of yardage.

None of that is on Musgrave, unless he was the one calling for the 2-yd dunks.

Ponder can not perform at the level we need him to perform. Period.

Next change is get rid of Musgrave, because I think he IS responsible for calling plays like a screen to the flat on 3rd and 10.

  8. Now we can again all thumb each other!

Northwoods, I give Musgrave a good share of the blame for Ponders development, and lack of killer instinct. But I suppose after all that, it IS ultimately on Ponder to execute.

    • The whole thing worries me. The entire team seems to be set on stun, not kill. I’m no expert Northwoods, but it smacks of lackluster head coaching. We will see how the team responds against the Steelers.

Hey, one interesting thing, we get to see the difference now that Felton is back.

  9. Ponder is stinking it up out there alot, but this O-line is getting ridiculous. now they’ve forgotten how to run block. those guys were getting beat off the ball by the guy in front of them all game…

  10. seemed like a repeat perfomance by the defense from the week before. they stink in the first half, dominate the whole second half until the last minute of the game, then break down to give up the game winning TD…

  11. This is what I think will happen for the remainder of the year: We will ultimately lose to the Steelers in London. Musgrave will get fired the following day. Ponder will play four more games with little difference.
Cassel will play 4 games with poor results. MBT will finish out the season with a 2-2 record as the Vikings finish the season 2-14. (#2 pick)
Frazier gets fired on “Black Monday.”
    The new season begins…

    OK I’m done ranting-Gnite.

    • Who’s out there who would be viable options to replace the current staff? I’m not saying that I like the idea, but I think it’s more realistic that we’d ride out the season with the guys who are running us into the ground right now, and then find their replacements after the college season has finished and all Vikings fans are watching the playoffs in their rocking chairs, twisting some old worn out paraphernalia, softly mumbling to themselves “next year…next year…next year…”

  12. Not to defend Musgrave, but why are so few of us calling for Williams’ head too? Believe it or not, the offense is doing pretty good this year, and while the defense has been looking flashy with the increase in turnovers, they are performing horribly.

The most important statistic in football is points, and while some of the points scored can be attributed to the defense, and points given up to the offense, for the most part they show where the biggest weaknesses are. Right now the vikings are averaging 27 points per game while giving up an average of 32. That puts them in the #7 spot for scoring, and the #30 spot for scoring against.

So, while Musgrave hasn’t had the killer instinct to put the game away at the end, Williams has been much worse at keeping the opposition in check and in playing for the win at the end of the game.

In the end, all coaching is to blame, and unless a BIG turnaround happens right away, they should all be shown the door. Too many good players have been put in place on this team for us to fall apart so pathetically at home against a team that threw in the towel last Tuesday.

  13. As of next year we will only have one player from our 2011 draft that will be on this team. 2 YEARS AGO! Looks like J-Robinson is a bust and where the hell is Gerald Hodges!?!?! A 4th round pick on a team that is AWFUL at linebacker and he can’t even make special teams. Spent a 12th overall pick in Christian Ponder. Let Winfield walk. Spielman is not off the hook.

    I’m so mad at everything!

Keep it purple...
